I have been a member of CrossFit 121 for six months and I couldn’t be happier I made the move from my previous gym (which offered HIIT / strength and condition type classes).
CrossFit had been something I accidentally discovered (via a documentary) and when I looked into it a little more, was blown away by the physical capabilities of the athletes and how varied their skills were (weightlifting, running, rowing, gymnastics etc.) which is what appealed to me initially.
I then started to try a few different CrossFit style workouts and really enjoyed these so
decided it was time to try them out at a proper CrossFit gym. I initially chose CrossFit 121
because the owner (Chris) was very responsive and accommodating and after doing a little more research established that he is also an exceptional CrossFit athlete himself, so thought starting out under his guidance would be very beneficial.
At the start I certainly struggled with a lot of different movements and workouts but the
wonderful guidance from all the coaches allowed me to practice these in a safe and efficient way, always providing great feedback on technique etc. which certainly helped me improve.
Having been a member for six months now I have certainly increased my strength and
fitness levels and also become a lot more comfortable with all the varied movements that I previously hadn’t had any exposure to. And although weight loss wasn’t a specific goal (I was more focused on improving my fitness), I have lost about 8kg which is very pleasing as well.)
The one other great thing about CrossFit 121 is all the wonderful members I have met during my short time there. All have a really positive outlook and are very supportive/ inclusive, which makes attending a class something I look forward to everyday!
